Spotify is doing what musicians should have done it 100 years ago by owning the entire ecosystem of musical landscapes. As the saying goes, the right time to plant a tree is ten years ago.
Music streaming service has launched its new website that sells fans tickets to live music shows directly from its platform instead of third-party platforms like Eventbrite, TicketsPRO and Ticketmaster.
The company’s new site lists upcoming concerts and lets users purchase tickets to these shows through debit or credit card; however, users need to have a Spotify account to buy tickets, which makes sense, Spotify is also growing its footprint or user base.
“At Spotify, we routinely test new products and ideas to improve our user experience. Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. Tickets.spotify.com is our latest test. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time,” the company said in a statement.
Sam Sheridan, Product manager for Live Events Discovery at Spotify said: “while people were engaging with artists on the app, they left the platform to find events for their live performances. With the revamped live events feed and the ticketing platform, the company is trying to solve the discovery problem and earn some money through ticket booking directly or as an affiliate partner.”
Tech platform like Spotify and TikTok is just marvelling to watch, how they do things and their forward-thinking approach.
