There is this quote by Zig Ziglar that says: “You can have everything in life you want, if you just help other people get what they want.”
The more I think about this quote, the more I see it to be true. While this year has been tough on us all, it has highlighted the real currency that moves the business world ahead each day, and that is value creation.
So many people are struggling out there because they’re focused on what they can get out of others, instead of what value they can offer others. This might sound a bit woowoo to some, but the end result is rather practical. Simply put, people earn in direct proportion to the value of the problem that they solve for other people. My good friend Allon Raiz once said it a bit more eloquently:
“Business at its core is just the exchange of value. There is no secret to business, just the constant discovery of what is valuable to whom, how to efficiently create that value, and how to widely communicate it.”
This is applicable whether you work for a company, or you have your own business.
With this in mind, I want you to take some time today to deeply introspect around the value that you are creating for other people. If you’re struggling right now from a financial perspective, this exercise is especially important.
Two last points to consider:
1: The game of value creation is a long-term game.
2: You can increase the value you offer to the world by continuously learning every day in a self-directed manner using the internet.
I hope this post gives you food for thought. The entire aim when writing it was to try add value to your life in some way!
