Alex FM Closes After Equipment worth R5-Million has been Looted

Alexandra community radio station Alex FM is closed this comes after non stop looting in the community by thugs under the banner of #FreeJacobZuma.

The station that has been serving people of Alex for the past 27 years is now off air.

Alex FM station Takalane Nemangowe said, “we are devastated, we woke up to the news that our radio station, a community radio station that is the voice of the voiceless, the only platform for the people of Alexandra has been cleaned out. We don’t have a radio station now.”

“We have lost equipment that is estimated to be worth R5-million. They took everything, all broadcasting equipment. We just have a building”, added Takalane.

The station released a statement confirming the official closure of the station until further notice.
