Oprah Winfrey Launched New Scholarship Program to Help Young Leaders

Mum Oprah Winfrey cares about the future of young people that’s the reason she keeps creating new initiative to help people in need.

Following similar mission she’s doing in South Africa with (OWLEG) Oprah Winfrey Leadership School for Girls, the media maven is doing it once again to give back.

The media mogul launched a new scholarship program — The Oprah Winfrey Leaders Scholarship. The new initiative will help young leaders to attend their dream schools.

People magazine reports, the scholarship program “will benefit students who have displayed both academic excellence and leadership within their respective communities.”

“I am where I am today because of education and the support of teachers throughout my life,” Winfrey said in a statement.

“I am honoured to support these students who have shown high achievement in their academic studies, but more importantly a commitment to their communities” adds Winfrey.

The philanthropist in a video call spoke and congratulated the 15 students who are going to take part in the program.

“I’m thrilled that there are young people like you in the world,” Winfrey shared in the call. “You are claiming your stake in the future and have done the work to prepare for a better life for yourself and everybody else. You are the future. You are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

The chosen students will be attending prestigious colleges and HSBCU universities across US including Harvard University, Brown University, Columbia University, Howard University, Cornell University and Loyola Marymount University.
