Apple has relaunched HomePod with a second-generation version that includes better sound, as well as better intelligence and computing smarts.
The HomePod is going to give Amazon and Google Home Max a run for their money hopefully takeover the market share of smartphones, who knows only time will tell.
“HomePod mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering customers amazing sound, an intelligent assistant, and smart home control all for just $99. We are focusing our efforts on HomePod mini,” says Apple in a press statement.
Unlike most of the competition, HomePod is a speaker first, smart home hub second. That’s not a knock on its smart home bona fides, mind — it’s an acknowledgement that the product is sound-first in a way that few other products in this category are, TechCrunch writes.
The new HomePod retails for $299 and preorders started already, with in-store availability and shipping beginning in the U.S. and other select markets on Friday, February 3.
