Sputla Ramokgopa, minister of Electricity says he’s going to end load shedding

The newly appointed Minister of Electricity Dr Kgosientso Sputla Ramokgopa says he has a plan and strategy to end load shedding in South Africa.

The newly appointed Minister of Electricity speaking to Talk Radio 702 Clement Manyathela, said “I know what I’ve gotten myself into.”

While speaking to Manyathela, Sputla said he understands the task at hand and together with his team they will meet their objectives and timelines, “We will be committing ourselves as the stakeholders in the energy space to a timeline.”

He is too confident about making load shedding a thing of the past, “We are going to resolve loadshedding.”

Dr Sputla was appointed by the embattled President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday evening while announcing his cabinet reshuffle.

According to the President his main responsibility is to oversee the energy crisis response as well as to have control over the Energy Action Plan, following the announcement of the State of Disaster that was declared during the president’s State of the Nation Address.

It’s still early days to tell if the newly appointed Minister of Electricity can do the job to solve the electricity crisis in the comity. As the saying goes, the state of the pudding is in the eating, only time will tell.

On the TechDailyPost we ran a poll, asking our reader if Sputla is the right man for the job? Unfortunately the polls tell a different story, they say Eskom doesn’t need political appointees or political figures, it needs engineers and people with technical skills.
