Twitter lift the ban on political ads as it tries to recoup some lost revenues

Tesla founder, CEO and owner of Twitter Elon Musk brings back the political ads on the platform after a two to three-year break. The move to ban political ads was initiated by Twitter’s co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey.

Previously Dorsey said political messaging should be earned and not bought. Targeted ads were not allowed unless they passed certain criteria.

The announcement was made by Twitter on its safety accounts.

“We believe that cause-based advertising can facilitate a public conversation around important topics. Today, we’re relaxing our ads policy for cause-based ads in the US. We also plan to expand the political advertising we permit in the coming weeks,” Twitter Safety wrote.

Musk is tired of playing politics and Mr goody too shoes, he wants to make serious money and bring some return on investment after he bought the company for $44 billion late last year.

According to media insiders, banning political ads doesn’t make sense for someone like Musk.

The South African-born entrepreneur decided that political ads must come back so that the social media platform can start making some money too, that’s fair and what’s the point of running a business and not making money, after all this is not charity, straight up.
